Escape I, is a digital composition of a fictitious space through sculpture objects and my Tasmanian living environment. The illusion evolved from a mirror I used daily that was permanently placed on my bedroom window. The orange back of the mirror conceals the reflection of my actual living space – a private and emotional space. In my attempt to transfer my emotions from the real world into the realm of dreams, I created similar diamond-form object and further release them outwardly beyond my living environment. This work relates to my unexpressed emotions towards home and my cultural living in Tasmania. It explores the tension between the hidden and the released, the lived and the dreamed. It seeks to use the real to extend and embrace the unreal. < Main Page |
