Born in Singapore, Chan completed a certificate in Western Art trained in classical painting at the Nangyang Academy of Fine Art, Singapore in 1998. She has achieved a BFA (Hons) first class, at the School of Art, University of Tasmania in 2010 major in Sculpture.
Chan’s practice involves a wide range of art disciplines including drawing, painting, sculpture, costume design, video performance, film production and contemporary installation. The artist has been awarded studio residencies at Arts Tasmania, Contemporary Art Tasmania and Holy Spirit College in Queensland including a mentorship in sculpture and theatre at the Mackay Musical Comedy Players Inc. Queensland in 2015. Chan has collaborated with performance base artists in the Festival of Voices in 2014 and the Dark Mofo festival in 2016. In 2014 and 2015, Chan received an Individual Artist grant and an Arts Bridge grant from the Arts Tasmania to develop her practice.
